A Board Member Who Listens First: The Quiet Strength Guiding Lives Toward Hope

Linda Myers | Walking alongside others with grace, humility, and faith in action

You might not notice her at first. She’s not the loudest voice in the room. But if you watch closely, you’ll see something powerful—Linda Myers leaning in, listening with intention, catching up on the details others miss. It’s in those quiet moments that real leadership begins.

From her early years as a young mother to the life she leads today, Linda’s story has been shaped by one steady thread: a deep commitment to loving people well. Known for her thoughtful presence and compassionate heart, she has spent much of her life investing in others—often in ways that never make headlines but always leave a mark.

What drew Linda to the Life Center was simple, yet profound: this is a place that doesn’t just give help—it gives hope. Here, people are met right where they are, without judgment, and guided forward with dignity. That approach resonates deeply with her. And what keeps her engaged is seeing the evidence—real lives being changed, families being restored, and individuals discovering strength they didn’t know they had.

One of the most formative moments in Linda’s life happened years ago, sitting across from a youth minister’s wife at a kitchen table. The conversation turned to the power of thoughts—how what you think shapes what you say, how you feel, and ultimately how you live. That truth took root. Even now, Linda returns often to the words of Philippians 4, quietly recentering her heart: Rejoice. Refocused. Renew. Those rhythms have carried her through seasons of joy and hardship alike.

Over the years, one message has repeatedly echoed through her life: listen more than you speak. It sounds simple. It isn’t. But Linda keeps choosing it. And in doing so, she reflects on something rare—a leadership style that doesn’t rush in to fix but patiently walks alongside. It’s the very heartbeat of the Life Center.

There’s a tenderness in her story that shapes everything. Linda lost her mother at just ten years old—a woman raising three children alone in a time when support was scarce. Even now, Linda wonders about her mother’s dreams, her struggles, and her quiet strength. And there’s a realization that lingers; she might have been someone the Life Center was created for. That connection isn’t abstract—it’s deeply personal.

Looking back, Linda would tell her younger self not to compare, but to embrace the unique gifts God has given her—and to use them boldly to bless others. It’s advice that she still lives out today.

If you asked how she hopes her life would be remembered, her answer is as humble as it is powerful: to be the hands and feet of Jesus—serving others faithfully, and when necessary, using words.

And when Linda looks at those served by the Life Center, she doesn’t just see need—she sees momentum. She sees people rising. She sees hope for multiplying. One life changed…then another…then a family…then a community.

That’s what makes the Life Center one of the most influential nonprofits in our region. It’s not just the programs—it’s the people. Leaders like Linda believe that transformation happens when someone feels seen, heard, and valued.

You’re part of that story, too. Every time you give, volunteer, or simply share the mission, you help create more moments like these—moments where someone discovers hope, takes a step forward, and begins to grow into the life God intended.

Linda’s story reflects the heart of the Life Center: walking alongside people with love, listening deeply, and empowering anyone who needs what it takes to grow.
