How It Began

Picnics in the Parking Lot was born out of a collaboration with The Life Center, Whitewater Crossing Christian Church, and The Community Pantry at Whitewater. We heard that students in our local schools were facing food scarcity in the summer because they didn’t have school to provide lunch every day.

This is a hard truth for many families, so we did something about it. Picnic’s in the Parking Lot is a way to get food into the hands of families that need help, and to give the kids something to look forward to every week.

We welcome EVERY family in the community to participate. We want to have a place where your kids can meet friends and you can build a community.

We couldn’t run this program without the help of so many different partners and volunteers. When you support Picnics in the Parking Lot, you are making sure that local children and families feel full and cared for.
