Meet Shannon Watson: Equipping the People Who Walk Beside Our Heroes
"I know it's been a good day at the Life Center when there's an opportunity to show God's love in a tangible way." - Shannon
Sometimes God leads us exactly where we're supposed to be—but not always by the most direct route.
Three years ago, Shannon Watson and her husband, Bill, moved from the Chicago area to Cincinnati. Once they were settled, they began searching for a church home. Shannon laughs that she felt a little like Goldilocks. Some churches were too big, others too small, and a few simply didn't feel like the right fit.
Then, in November 2025, they visited Whitewater Crossing at their neighbor's invitation.
"Within the first 15 minutes of worship and Josh's teaching, I knew this was where God wanted us."
That decision opened doors Shannon never expected. She joined a small group, served with Samaritan's Purse, discovered the Life Center, and quickly fell in love with its mission. After meeting Executive Director Jason Wessel and seeing firsthand the vision for helping people grow, Shannon became a Hero Guide. It wasn't long before she accepted a new role as the Life Center's part-time Volunteer Coordinator.
With years of nonprofit leadership experience, Shannon understands something essential: volunteers are the heart of every successful ministry.
"Volunteers can make or break a mission," she says. "When people are well trained, encouraged, and appreciated, they serve with confidence—and lives are changed."
That's exactly where Shannon's gifts shine. She will focus on volunteer recruitment, training, communication, and helping every volunteer feel equipped and valued. She believes that when volunteers thrive, Heroes thrive, families grow stronger, and entire communities benefit.
For Shannon, service is simply another way to express God's love.
"Positive life change has a ripple effect," she says. "It touches families, neighborhoods, and ultimately the community. That's what makes this work so exciting."
Away from the Life Center, Shannon enjoys cooking, baking, creating new recipes, and admits there's "a lurking comedian" inside her just waiting for the right moment.
We're delighted to welcome Shannon to the Life Center team. Her passion for people, heart for service, and commitment to developing volunteers will strengthen every ministry we offer. We can't wait to see the impact God will make through her as she helps volunteers become confident guides, caring servants, and everyday heroes.
Please join us in welcoming Shannon Watson to the Life Center family!
